What participants say

"It rekindles my love for acting and for the search for a subtle quality in the work."

- Alberto De Gaspari (Italy), participated in ToC 2024 and 2025

"It was like revealing myself and saying,  'Ah!  there you are … it’s been a long time.'

- Edoardo Fortasari (Italy), participated in 2024 and 2025

"Working on songs of tradition was a beautiful and demanding experience - a practice that requires you to look beyond those deep fears of what it might mean to let the body and voice be truly free and uninhibited."

- Sara May Jarvie-Clark (Canada), participated in ToC 2025

"That is the power of It: the team treats you like a creator, they trust you and guide you to really explore your own world!"

 - Alessandra Curia (Italy), participated in ToC 2025

"Unlike workshops that provide external tools, ToC works with the creative sources already within you."

- Henrick Cheng (USA), participated in ToC 2025

If I had to sum up my experience at TOC in one word, it would be awareness.

Awareness that theater is vast — a horizon that opens endlessly and can never be fully grasped.

- Salvatore Stimolo (Italy), participated in ToC 2025

Participants from all over the world, coming from different backgrounds, shared a single purpose: to dive deeply, if briefly, into TOC’s approach to theater, encouraging one another every step of the way.

- Jimin Lim (South Korea), participated in ToC 2023

"ToC is a workshop where the creative team openly shares their knowledge with all those who feel that strange, mysterious, and beautiful need to tell stories... through the most strange, mysterious, and beautiful vehicle of all: our body."

- Dorota Ptaszek (Poland), participated in ToC 2024 and 2025

Threads of Creation:
An Intensive Summer Workshop in Pontedera, Italy

From July 6th to 31st, plus an additional session from June 4th to 9th, 2026

Dear friends,

Theatre No Theatre is pleased to announce that Thomas Richards, along with Theatre No Theatre team members, will lead a workshop entitled Threads of Creation in Pontedera, Italy. This program, designed for actors, directors, students, and those interested in the practical knowledge of the performing arts, will take place from July 6th to 31st, 2026.

Additional Session Due to Popular Demand

Due to the many applications we have received prior to publicising the even, the main session from July 6th to 31st is filling up quickly. While we are still accepting applications for the July dates, we want to ensure that as many participants as possible can participate.

Therefore, we are pleased to announce an additional 6-day intensive session from June 4th to 9th, 2026. We encourage those interested in studying with us this summer at our home base to apply for their preferred dates as soon as possible, as we expect both the July and June sessions to reach full capacity shortly.

About the Workshop

The workshop strives to unearth the creative potentialities of each participant by exploring the relationship between precision and organicity, tradition and individual craft. The work will focus on action, movement, rhythm, text development, composition, and the living voice.

Participants will engage with the fundamental principles of Mr. Richards’ approach to theatrical creation, including singing sessions that have been at the heart of his research for over 35 years. This practice explores the profound impact that the melodic and rhythmic qualities of a given song can have on the person who sings.
