Richards assists Grotowski during a month long meeting in Château de l’Ermitage in France, with young European theatre groups, with demonstrations of their performances, analysis and workshops

At the Workcenter, the Downstairs team is formed, led by Richards, who begins the work process that will lead to Downstairs Action (1987-1992), created by Richards under Grotowski's supervision.
