for Artists
ARTISTIC RESIDENCIES
Theatre No Theatre is dedicated to creating artistic residencies tailored for individual artists who wish to collaborate with us on a longer term basis. The number and duration of these residencies can differ, as well as their location. Artistic residencies provide us with the circumstances to develop creative processes with artists beyond what can normally be accomplished within a workshop setting. Such residencies give us a greater chance to explore possibilities, and move towards longer term creative goals, which are defined with each artist.

Fall 2025 - Current
Six resident artists at work
Theatre No Theatre is currently hosting residencies for Sebastiano Amidani, Bianca Ceravolo, Emanuele Fantini, Kateryna Hryhorenko, Marta Maltese, and Alon Ortas, taking place between its home base in Pontedera and Milan (Italy).
These artists encountered Theatre No Theatre through our Summer Intensive, Threads of Creation and other pedagogic events in recent years. Guided by Thomas Richards and Theatre No Theatre members, they are developing individual creations and daily work has as well a strong focus on work on Songs of Tradition.
This residency take place in two sessions between September 15th and October 10th, 2025.
Fall 2023
Residencies in Pontedera
From August 28th to October 31th, 2023, Theatre No Theatre welcomed Ettore Brocca, Kei Franklin, Yaiza Hervás, Alejandro Linares, Federico Ortiz-Cañavate and Fabio Pagano to its Pontedera home base. This residency principally focused on the development of The Inanna Project and Just a Little Too Much, deepening collaborative creation and exploration.
Summer 2023
Artists from across Europe
Between June 26th and August 4th, 2023, Theatre No Theatre hosted residencies of varying lengths in Pontedera. Participating artists included Ettore Brocca, Kei Franklin, Yaiza Hervás, Alejandro Linares, Federico Ortiz-Cañavate, Fabio Pagano, Grzegorz Łabuda and Jakub Margosiak. These artists were also present during Threads of Creation - 2023.
USA Tour 2023
Resident artists joined our American journey
From January 11th through March 26th, 2023, Theatre No Theatre held residencies alongside its USA tour across Akron (OH), Jersey City (NJ), New York City (NY) and Chicago (IL). Federico Ortiz-Cañavate, Grzegorz Łabuda, Jakub Margosiak, Kei Franklin, Ettore Brocca and Fabio Pagano, who had already engaged in pedagogic events worldwide, joined the tour to work daily on songs of tradition and collaborate with local American artists within workshops and exchanges.
Our first residency - 2022
With three Spanish artists
Theatre No Theatre launched its Artistic Residencies in 2022, starting with three Spanish artists whom the TNT team had encountered during a workshop in Alicante earlier that year.
From September 12th to December 16th, Yaiza Hervás, Alejandro Linares, and Federico Ortiz-Cañavate were in residence in Pontedera, engaging in daily explorations of work on songs of tradition and laying the first foundations for sonic compositions that would potentially become part of The Inanna Project.
